Under the Vande Bharat Mission, Gandhi Jayanti, on October 2, 3698 Indians returned home from countries around the world.
The Ministry of External Affairs reported that 16.45 lakh Indians have returned from abroad under the Vande Bharat Mission, launched on May 7 in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Foreign Ministry spokesman Anurag Shrivastava said that the sixth phase of the Vande India Mission has ended and under this phase, 894 international flights and 142 feeder flights have been operated from 24 countries. These flights reached 24 airports in India. He said that 1.75 lakh people have returned home under the sixth phase.
Till September 30, a total of 16.45 lakh Indians have returned to India through various modes of Vande Bharat Mission. Srivastava said in an online media briefing that the seventh phase of Vande Bharat Mission has been implemented from October 1, 2020 to meet the continuous demand. This month, under the seventh phase, 820 international flights from 19 countries are to be operated. Union Minister of Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri tweeted on Saturday that 3698 Indians returned home from countries around the world on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti. At present, the Vande Bharat Mission will continue till 31 October.
