The government will charge more money as maintenance fee from the people living in the society. According to the report of Indian Express, the government has changed the housing rules, after which the apartment whose maintenance cost will be more than Rs 75,00 per month. Or if the total maintenance cost of the society is more than Rs 20 lakh, then the rule of 18 percent GST will be applicable on them. According to the report, about 50 lakh people live in apartments in Bengaluru, and at least 40 lakh people live in apartments in cities like Mysore, Mangaluru, Hubli and Belgaum. On which flats will the 18 percent GST rule be applicable? This can be cleared from the tax office.
GST will not be imposed on all apartments
The government will not impose 18 percent GST on all apartments. If a person is confused whether his flat or society will come under this purview or not, then for this he can go to the local commercial tax office and check the status of his society by paying Rs 500.
How many times will the return have to be filed
According to the report, a discussion has started among the people living in apartments in Bengaluru, whether they should now register for GST. If once registered under this, then they will have to file returns twice a month. First on the 11th of the month and second on the 20th. Apart from this, the return for the whole year will have to be filed. People may have to spend Rs 1-2 lakh on filing returns repeatedly.
