Rs 2000 Bank Note: At the time when RBI announced the withdrawal of Rs 2000 notes from circulation, there were notes worth Rs 3.56 lakh crore in the market. But now this figure has come down to Rs 6,471 crore.

Rs 2000 Notes: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said on Saturday that 98.18% of the notes worth Rs 2000 have returned. Now only notes worth Rs 6,471 crore are left with the public in the market. Let us tell you that on 19 May 2023, the Reserve Bank had decided to withdraw bank notes worth Rs 2000 from circulation. At that time the total value of these notes was Rs 3.56 lakh crore. By 28 February 2025, it has come down to just Rs 6,471 crore.

Facility to deposit and exchange notes in banks

After the announcement of RBI, till 7 October 2023, the facility of depositing and exchanging notes of Rs 2000 value was given in all the banks. Even after this, this facility was given in 19 branch offices of RBI. From 9 October 2023, the regional offices of RBI are accepting notes of Rs 2000 value from people and institutions for depositing in the bank account.

Facility to deposit through post office

If anyone still has notes of Rs 2000 value, then you can deposit it in your bank account by sending it from any post office to the issue offices of RBI. This facility is available through post offices across the country. Let us tell you that the note of Rs 2000 value may have been withdrawn from circulation. But it still remains legal tender. This means that the notes can still be accepted and are legally valid. This decision of RBI has helped in increasing the circulation of small value notes in the market and controlling black money.
