Health Insurance Claim- National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX) will not only prevent irregularities like rejection of health insurance claims on improper grounds but will also speed up the settlement of claims.
Health Insurance Claim: At least 33 companies have joined the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX), a digital platform created to provide immediate health insurance claims to the insured person and bring transparency in the claim process. NHCX has been created by the government to exchange information related to insurance claims. Till now this work is done through many different platforms. This will not only speed up the settlement of claims, but the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) will also keep getting real time information about the status of settlement of health insurance claims.
This platform has been jointly created by the National Health Agency and IRDIA. Currently, some companies have started settling claims through NHCX on a trial basis. HDFC Ergo has settled its first claim through NHCX. The platform with all the features is likely to be officially launched soon. Claim status will be visible on mobile
A Times of India report quoted a government source as saying that after the launch of NHCX, the insured person will be able to see the status of his insurance claim on his mobile phone. The use of NHCX will not only speed up the process of insurance claims but will also bring transparency in it. Incidents of unnecessarily holding back and rejecting claims will also be curbed.
There will be no delay in discharge
At present, the patient going to the hospital for treatment has to show the details of his insurance policy or the card issued by the Third Party Administrator (TPA) or the insurance company to get treatment. After this, the hospital uploads the necessary documents to obtain prior approval or claim approval for treatment on the claim processing portal of the respective insurance companies.
The decision is taken by the concerned team. Sometimes this process takes a lot of time. As a result, either the patient is late in getting discharged from the hospital or the patient has to spend more money from his pocket. With the creation of a centralized system through NHXX, all these problems will be solved.
