Dearness allowance of central employees was stopped from January 2020 to June 2021. However, it was extended simultaneously from July 2021. But, they did not get the money for the withheld period. Now the employees have been demanding those 18 months DA arrears for a long time. Since the announcement of DA, unions of central employees are continuously demanding arrears. Pensioners have also appealed to Prime Minister Modi regarding the arrears of DR. Efforts are on to negotiate with the government regarding the one and a half year arrears (18 Months DA Arrear). The JCM secretary has said that the government can do the negotiated settlement if it wants. A meeting with the cabinet secretary can be held in November regarding this. However, its confirmation has not yet been received from the government.
