new Delhi. You must have often heard about discounts on things like clothes, cars, bikes, but have you ever heard about discount offers on traffic challans. No! but it’s true. The traffic police of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda have announced huge discount on payment of traffic fine on vehicles registered with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police has made the new announcement after identifying a huge backlog of 600 crore challans pending for many years. According to a police statement, this step is a relief to the passengers who are facing financial difficulties during the Kovid-19 pandemic.

Under the newly announced exemption scheme, two-wheeler owners will have to pay only 25% of the total challan amount, while light motor vehicles (LMVs), cars, jeeps and heavy vehicles will have to pay 50% of the amount. RTC (Road Transport Corporation) bus owners can pay 30% of the dues, while the remaining amount will be waived off. Telangana Police has announced that only online payment of challan will be accepted to get the benefit of exemption.

The traffic police has announced this exemption for those traffic defaulters, who will pay the dues during the special drive from March 1 to March 31. This will be a one-time exemption/concession for those citizens whose challan is pending. The police department has urged the defaulters to take advantage of the scheme during the month-long drive.
