500 trains have been changed time
In the new timetable of the Railways, the speed of about 500 Mail Express trains has been increased. The Railway Ministry gave this information on Monday. According to the Railways, 65 pairs of trains have been converted into ‘Superfast’ category. Overall, the average speed of all trains has increased by about five per cent, providing about five per cent additional routes for additional train operations, according to a statement from the ministry.
Timetable came into effect from October 1
Indian Railways has released its new All India Railway Time Table ‘Train at a Glance (TAG)’ on its website. This timetable is effective from October 1. In the new timetable, several premium trains like Vande Bharat Express have been introduced between New Delhi-Varanasi and New Delhi-Katra, the statement said. It said that another Vande Bharat Express train has also been started between Gandhinagar and Mumbai.
Railway issued statement
According to a statement issued by the Railways, the punctuality of Indian Railways Mail Express trains during 2022-23 was about 84 per cent, which is about nine per cent more than the 75 per cent punctuality achieved during 2019-20.
Railways operates 3240 trains
Indian Railways operates about 3,240 mail/express trains, including Vande Bharat Express, Gatimaan Express, Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express, Humsafar Express, Tejas Express, Duronto Express, Antyodaya Express, Garib Rath Express, Sampark Kranti Express, Yuva Express, Uday Express, Janshatabdi Express and others.
2.23 crore passengers travel every day
In addition, around 3,000 passenger trains and 5,660 suburban trains also operate on the Indian Railways network. About 2.23 crore passengers travel by rail every day. To clear the extra rush and meet the demand of passengers, more than 65,000 special train journeys were operated during 2021-22.
