New Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has made 58 citizen related services like driving licence, vehicle registration and transfer of ownership available online through Aadhaar verification. Here Aadhaar verification will be voluntary.
Now you will not have to make rounds of RTO office
The ministry said on Saturday that providing such services in a contactless manner without visiting government offices will save valuable time of citizens and also reduce their compliance burden.
Apart from this, the number of people going to the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) will also come down, which will increase the effectiveness of the work.
You can avail these services sitting at home
Online services for which citizens can voluntarily get Aadhaar verification done include services such as learner’s licence, copy of driving licence and renewal of driving licence without the need to show driving.
You can take advantage of this facility even without Aadhaar
The ministry issued a notification in this regard on 16 September. A person who does not have an Aadhaar number can directly avail the services by showing some other identity proof.
