New Delhi: There is good news for central government employees. The Central Government has announced to give non-productivity linked bonus or ad-hoc bonus to central employees for the financial year 2020-21. 



Earlier, bonus was also announced for lakhs of railway employees in this category. On Tuesday, the Department of Expenditure, which comes under the Ministry of Finance, announced this bonus in a statement. This bonus will be available to all those non-gazetted employees of Group C and Group B of the Central Government, who are not covered under any productivity-linked bonus.

Who will benefit

The Department of Expenditure has said in its statement that employees not covered under Non-Productivity Linked Bonus will get the benefit. That is, non-productivity linked bonus (ad-hoc bonus) will be paid to central government employees in Group-C and all non-gazetted employees in Group-B who are not covered under any productivity linked bonus scheme.

Employees of central paramilitary forces and armed forces will also be eligible for bonus. The employees who were in service till March 31, 2021, and who have rendered at least six months of continuous service during the financial year 2020-21, will be eligible for ad-hoc bonus, the statement said.



In case of employees who have resigned, retired or terminated service before 31st March, 2021, the ad-hoc bonus shall be paid only to those who retired on medical grounds or who died before 31st March, 2021 . But even in these cases, it is necessary to have at least six months of regular service during the year.

How to calculate

The calculated limit for payment of this bonus will be the monthly emoluments of Rs.7,000. The Department of Expenditure said, “The quantum of ad-hoc bonus will be calculated on the basis of average emoluments/maximum of calculation, whichever is lower.
