Bad news for central employees. Actually a new update is coming out for the employees from the government. Under which it is being said that the employees will not get the arrears of dearness allowance for 18 months.

The government has given a big blow to the central government employees. The hopes of the central employees have been dashed. He had every expectation of getting DA Arrears for 18 months. But the government has broken this hope of the employees.

On behalf of the Union Finance Ministry, it has been told in the Rajya Sabha that central employees will not get DA due for 18 months. The government has clearly said that the employees will not get the money in three installments because there is no such provision. This outstanding DA is at the time of Corona Pandemic. At that time the government had stopped dearness allowance of central employees and dearness relief (DR) of pensioners.

Dearness allowance was not received during the Corona period-

The government had stopped the dearness allowance of central employees during the Corona period. The government has not yet given DA to central employees for 18 months between January 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021. It was believed that this outstanding DA would be paid after the economy recovered from Corona. But now the government has made it clear that central employees will not get dearness allowance during the Corona period.

What did the government say?

Rajya Sabha MP Naran-bhai J Rathwa asked a question to the Finance Minister. He had asked whether the government would give 18 months’ arrears of DA to the central employees? The answer was given by Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary.

He said that there have been demands related to release of 18 months DA/DR to central employees and pensioners. He said that even after the financial year 2020-21, the situation was not good, therefore it was not considered feasible to release this outstanding DA/DR.

Dearness allowance is increased every six months.

According to the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, the central government employees have to increase the dearness allowance on a half-yearly basis. During the Corona period, three installments of DA (1 January 2020, 1 July 2020, 1 January 2021) were banned. After this, the government had restored Dearness Allowance in July 2021.

But the DA of three installments remained outstanding. The government had increased the dearness allowance by 11 percent from July 1, 2021. After this, from July 2021, dearness allowance increased from 17 percent to 28 percent. At present it is 38 per cent.
