7th pay commission: Due to Corona, in the year 2020, dearness allowance ie DA of central employees and dearness relief DR of pensioners was banned. Amidst the increasing cases of new variants of Corona i.e. Omicron , similar news is becoming viral once again.


In a letter going viral on social media, it is being claimed that in view of Omicron, the government has postponed the decision of increased dearness allowance of central employees and dearness relief to pensioners. According to the viral letter, this order has been given by the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance. However, this letter in the fact check of PIB is completely fake.

What PIB Fact Check said: According to PIB Fact Check, a fake order issued in the name of Ministry of Finance is going viral. It has been claimed that dearness allowance and dearness relief payable to central government employees and pensioners will be kept in abeyance. This is completely fake news. Dearness Allowance or Dearness Relief to employees and pensioners is in vogue.

How much is the rate now: At present, the dearness allowance of central employees or dearness relief of pensioners is 31 percent. The allowance or relief for the first half of the year 2022 is expected to increase once again. Let us tell you that according to the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, dearness allowance and dearness relief are increased twice a year. This increase is on half yearly basis. About 48 lakh central government employees and more than 65 lakh pensioners are benefitted by the government’s decision to increase.
