Let us inform that under the Seventh Pay Commission, dearness allowance is a fixed part of the basic salary of the employee. To reduce the effect of inflation in the country, dearness allowance is given to the employees by the government. At the same time, this benefit is given to pensioners in the form of Dearness Relief (DR).
The dearness allowance of central employees is updated twice a year between January and July. DA is calculated by multiplying the current rate of dearness allowance with the basic pay.
