7th Pay Commission Latest News: The Central Government has recently increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) of its employees and pensioners by three percent. After this increase, central employees and pensioners will now get DA and DR at the rate of 34 percent. This increase will be effective from January 1, 2022.
Decision in the meeting of the Union Cabinet
A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the Union Cabinet held on Wednesday. A press release issued in this regard said, “The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the release of additional installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and an additional installment of Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners. This increase will be applicable from January 1, 2022.
DA doubled in 9 months
Before July 2021, central employees were getting DA at the rate of 17 percent. The reason for this is that the government had frozen the increase in DA and DR of its employees and pensioners for about one and a half years due to Kovid-19. However, in July 2021, the government had increased the DA to central employees by 11 percent. Due to this, the DA he got had increased to 28 percent. After this, in November, the government increased the DA to the central employees by three percent.
Due to this, the DA to central employees and pensioners had reached 31 percent. Now it has gone up to 34 per cent after the recent increase by the government. In this way, the DA to the central employees has doubled in the last 9 months. It is worth noting that the government does revision in DA twice a year (in January and July).
Increased salary will come this month
Central government employees will get the increased DA part in this month’s salary. Along with this, the employees will also get three months arrears along with the salary of April. After the increase of three percent in dearness allowance, the central employees will get arrears ranging from Rs 73,440 to 2,32,152 Rs 20. At the same time, according to an estimate, the increase in DA will put an additional burden of Rs 10,000 crore annually on the government exchequer.
