This information was given by the government in reply to a question in the Lok Sabha. The government said that during the Corona period, Rs 34,402.32 crore was saved from the withheld dearness allowance of the employees. This money was used to stop the epidemic. Let us tell you that in the year 2020, on the arrival of Corona epidemic, three installments of DA hike of central employees were stopped. After January 2020, July 2020 and January 2021, it was restored in July 2021.
One time increase of 17%
DA was increased by one time 17% for January 2020, June 2020 and January 2021. But the money withheld during this period was not given to the employees. There is a continuous demand for DA arrears of 18 months from the employees union. But on this the Modi government flatly refused to give dearness allowance and dearness relief to central employees and pensioners.
By stopping the DA payment,
it was clarified in the Lok Sabha that the budget deficit at present is double as compared to the provisions of the FRBM Act. Therefore, there is no proposal to give back arrears of DA. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said, during the epidemic, the government started welfare schemes to deal with the disaster.
