A good news has come for lakhs of state government employees of 7th pay commission of Karnataka. The state government has announced a huge Diwali bonus for them. Following the Centre’s move, the Karnataka government hiked Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees, the second increase in this financial year.
As per the latest announcements, the DA of government employees will now be 24.5 per cent of their basic pay, an increase of 3% points from 21.5 per cent. Issuing a fresh order, the state finance department said that the DA hike will be applicable with retrospective effect from July 1. This hike will not only benefit the government employees but also pensioners.
As per the order DA hik will be applicable to “full time government employees, employees of district panchayats, employees working on regular pay scale, full time employees of aided educational institutions and universities who are on regular schedule.
The state finance department said that this order is also applicable to current and former employees on UGC/AICTE/ACAR pay scales. The state government said that the increase in DA will benefit 4.5 lakh pensioners besides six lakh employees.
Earlier this month, the Union Cabinet raised dearness allowance and dearness relief by 3 per cent to 31 per cent to benefit 47.14 lakh central government employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur gave this information.
