Central government employees have demanded to abolish the limit of a special allowance under the 7th Pay Commission. The employees’ union has said that several rounds of talks have taken place regarding the limit of this allowance called Night Duty Allowance. This matter is in the notice of the top government officials, but no decision has been taken by the Defense Ministry so far.
Demand for removal of artificial ceiling of Rs 43600/-
Indian Defense Mazdoor Sangh (ALL INDIA FEDERATION OF DEFENCE WORKERS) General Secretary and JCM-II Level Council (MOD) member Mukesh Singh has written a letter to the Secretary of Defense Department regarding this demand. In this he has said that the federation reiterates the demand to remove the artificial ceiling of Rs 43600/- on Night Duty Allowance. This ceiling has been placed under the order dated 13 July 2020. The issue has been raised several times in the meetings of the National Council (JCM).
Meeting with Cabinet Secretary was held in June
According to Mukesh Singh, this demand was also placed in the meeting with the Cabinet Secretary on 26 June 2021. But no decision has been taken till now. The Department of Personal has argued in the ongoing lawsuits regarding the service that the order issued by it last year does not apply to the industrial employees of the Defense Department.
Government to take rational decision
According to Mukesh Singh, in such a situation, the government should fulfill the demand of the employees of the Defense Department by taking a right and rational decision. This will benefit the employees and Night Duty Allowance will be available properly. Let us inform that in a meeting with the Cabinet Secretary in June 2021, Shiv Gopal Mishra, General Secretary, JCM (Staff Side) had demanded removal of the ban on Dearness Allowance. Along with this, arrears for the last one and a half years were also requested. However, the government has categorically refused to pay that dues.
