Let us inform that from January 1, 2021, the Indian Railway Technical Supervisors Association and National Federation of Railwaymen have been demanding to implement HRA.
After increasing the dearness allowance of central employees on Diwali last month, the central government is now preparing to give a gift on the new year as well. According to media reports, the Center is considering increasing the House Rent Allowance (HRA) of central employees from January 2022. For this, the Finance Ministry has started discussions to implement HRA of more than 11.56 lakh employees.
Let us tell you that a proposal in this regard has also been sent to the Railway Board. If this proposal is accepted by the Railway Board, then in January 2022, the employees will get the increased HRA. It is worth noting that Indian Railway Technical Supervisors Association and National Federation of Railwaymen have been demanding implementation of HRA since January 1, 2021.
After increasing the house rent allowance, there will be a bumper increase in the salary of the employees. HRA is that part of the salary, which is paid by the government or employer to the employees for the accommodation cost of living in that city . However, in all cases the employer pays based on the norms of salary structure, amount of salary and city of residence.
Let us tell you that those cities come under the ‘X’ category, where the population is more than 50 lakhs. Cities with a population of more than 5 lakhs fall in the ‘Y’ category. Whereas cities with less than 5 lakhs are included in the ‘Z’ category. The minimum house rent allowance for these three categories will be Rs 5400, 3600 and Rs 1800 respectively. According to the Department of Expenditure, when the Dearness Allowance reaches 50 per cent, the maximum House Rent Allowance will increase to 30 per cent.
Big gift was given on Diwali: It is worth mentioning that earlier the Central Government had given gifts to the employees on the occasion of Diwali. Non-productive linked, or ad-hoc bonuses were approved for the financial year 2020-21. This bonus was given to central employees on the occasion of festivals.
