7th Pay Commission: A major change has been made in the family pension by the Ministry of Defense of the Central Government. The Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defense has issued an order to implement the circular of the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare.
What is the circular: In fact, on June 16, 2021, the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DOP&PW) had mentioned an important condition that this right can be taken away from the member receiving family pension.

What was the condition: According to this, if a member of the family pensioner is accused of murder of a government employee or abetment of any such offense, then in such a situation, pension can be given to any other eligible member of the family.
What the Defense Ministry has to say now: The Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defense on 05 January 2022 amended the provisions contained in the Memorandum of DoP&PW for Armed Forces Pensioners along with necessary changes (necessary arrangements without affecting the main point of the issue) Order regarding implementation has been issued. This provision will come into effect from 16 June 2021.
