But now the situation has become clear regarding this. The AICPI index figure for June 2024 has been released by the government. This has given an indication of how much the central employees are going to benefit this time.
Dearness allowance expected to increase by 3 percent
Looking at the AICPI index of June, it is expected that this time the dearness allowance of central employees may increase by 3 percent. If this increase becomes effective, then it will increase to 53 percent with the existing DA. Let it be clear that this figure of DA is not official in any way. It is being expected only on the basis of AICPI index. Earlier in the month of March, the government had announced to increase DA by 4 percent. After which it increased to 50 percent.
Announcement may be made in September or October
This time there is a delay in the number coming on July 31. However, according to the current trends, there will be a jump of only 3 percent in dearness allowance. Every time it is decided on the basis of AICPI index that how much dearness allowance of the employees needs to be increased. Therefore, on the basis of data between January to June 2024, it will be decided how much dearness allowance the employees will get from July 2024. Data from January to May has been released. Now new dearness allowance will be available from July. However, it is likely to be announced in September.

In May, the AICPI index rose to 52.91 points. It is expected to increase in the June figures as well. Experts are hoping that the government can increase dearness allowance by 3 percent. For a 4 percent hike, the index will have to reach 143 points, which is unlikely. When things become expensive, the government gives extra money to the employees. This is called dearness allowance. This allowance is given to reduce the impact of inflation.
Dearness allowance will not be zero
The dearness allowance of employees will not be made zero (0). The calculation of DA (DA Hike calculation) will continue like this in future as well. There is no fixed rule regarding this. This was done last time when there was a change in the base year. Now there is no need to change the base year and there is no such recommendation. Therefore, the calculation of dearness allowance for central employees will increase by 50 percent.
