7th Pay Commission DA Hike 2025: Central government employees and pensioners can get great news in the new year i.e. 2025. An increase in their Dearness Allowance (DA) may be announced soon. Government employees and pensioners are eagerly waiting for this. Let us know how DA is calculated and when it is likely to be announced.
How is DA calculated
Under the 7th Pay Commission, DA is calculated on the basis of AICPI (All India Consumer Price Index). This time, the data of AICPI index from July to December 2024 will decide how much the government will increase the DA.
The data released till October 2024 shows that there may be a 3 percent increase in DA in January 2025, because at that time AICPI was at 144.5. However, the data for November and December has not been released yet. If this figure remains around 145 in both these months, then only DA will increase to 56 percent in January 2025.
How much will the employees benefit?
The decision to increase the DA of central employees is mainly based on AICPI (All India Consumer Price Index). The data of the previous months shows that the government can increase DA from 53 percent to 56 percent in the new year.
This increase of 3 percent in dearness allowance can also increase the monthly salary of central employees significantly. If there is a 3 percent increase in DA, then there will be a big change in the money received by government employees and pensioners.
When will the increase in DA be announced?
Under the 7th Pay Commission, DA is revised twice a year. First time in January and second time in July. This revision is based on the average of the AICPI index. This time the DA revision of January 2025 will be based on the AICPI data from July to December 2024.
The formal announcement of the increase in dearness allowance (DA) of central employees is made in March. The government can give a festive gift to government employees and pensioners by releasing it before Holi. However, the DA money may come with the salary of March or April.
