Gujarat government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) by 4 percent. After the increase in DA, DA of Gujarat government employees has now increased from 42 percent to 46 percent.
7th Pay Commission DA Hike: Just before the Lok Sabha elections, the Gujarat government announced a 4 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners. A resolution of the state government states that with this increase, the DA of Gujarat government employees has now increased from 42 percent to 46 percent. Gujarat government has extended this DA from July 1, 2023. That means, 8 months DA arrears will also be included in the salary of Gujarat government employees.
Government employees will get 8 months arrears
Gujarat government has increased the DA of employees by 4 percent. Now employees will get 46 percent DA instead of 42 percent. This dearness allowance will be considered applicable from July 1, 2023. That is, employees will also get 8 months DA arrears in the March salary. Employees are going to get bumper salary in March.
Lakhs of employees of Gujarat will benefit
The decision to increase DA will benefit about 4.45 lakh state government employees and 4.63 lakh pensioners. The government has also decided to increase its contribution to the National Pension System (NPS) from 10 per cent to 14 per cent, while state employees will get 10 per cent of DA. Percentage will have to be paid.
Employees are demanding
Gujarat government employees are demanding restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) instead of NPS. Under OPS, retired government employees used to get 50 percent of their last salary and DA as pension.
