7th Pay Commission DA Hike January 2025: Good news is going to be received in the new year for central employees. A new jump is seen in dearness allowance. There is a discussion that once again a good jump can be seen in dearness allowance. According to the data of AICPI Index, there will be a jump of only 3 percent in the dearness allowance (DA hike) of employees (Central government employees). The current trends are indicating that dearness allowance (January 2025 DA) will reach 56 percent. Let us also understand its calculation. The numbers of AICPI Index till October have come. But, if we look at the trend in November and December, then only 3 percent increase is seen in DA.
AICPI figures
The AICPI index tracks inflation and changes in the price of commodities in the country. So far, the numbers for July, August, September and October 2024 have been released for this half year. According to these, the figure was at 142.7 points in July, due to which the score of dearness allowance reached 53.64 percent. In August, the index reached 142.6 points and DA reached 53.95%, according to 143.3 points in September, the score of allowance was 54.49%. At the same time, in the latest figures of October, the index has reached 144.5 points. In such a situation, dearness allowance has reached 55.05%. Let us tell you that the current rate of dearness allowance is 53 percent which is applicable from July 2024.
New DA will be available from January 1

The new dearness allowance for central employees will be applicable from January 2025. However, it is expected to be announced in March 2025. Usually the government announces it around Holi in March.
What is the trend of November-December?
The index number is at 144.5 points till October, due to which the dearness allowance has become 55.05%. If we look at the trend of the next two months, then the index can reach 145 points in November, due to which the dearness allowance will reach 55.59%. At the same time, the index number is expected to be 145.3 points in December, due to which there will be a good jump in the dearness allowance. But, it will reach 56.18%. In such a situation, only a 3 percent increase is expected in the total dearness allowance.
How much will be the benefit in salary?
According to the pay grade of 7th pay commission, employees with minimum basic salary will get ₹6480 more annually. For example, if the basic pay is ₹18,000 and dearness allowance is 56%, then the calculation will be like this:
DA from January 2025: ₹18,000 x 56% = ₹10,080/month
DA from July 2024: ₹18,000 x 53% = ₹9,540/month
Difference on increase of 3 percent: ₹540 per month
