7th Pay Commission DA Hike: The central government has announced an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). This increase will be applicable to those central employees and employees of autonomous bodies (Department of Public Enterprises) who are getting salary as per the 5th and 6th Pay Commission.

This increase will be applicable to those central employees and employees of autonomous bodies (Department of Public Enterprises) who are getting salary as per the 5th and 6th Pay Commission. In this regard, the Department of Public Enterprises of the Ministry of Finance has issued an Office Memorandum on 7 November 2024.
New rates of DA under 6th Pay Commission
As per the 6th Pay Commission, the dearness allowance for employees receiving salary has been increased from the existing 239% to 246%. This increase will be applicable from July 1, 2024. A seven percent increase in dearness allowance has been made under the Sixth Pay Commission. For example, if the basic salary of an employee is ₹ 43,000, then earlier he used to get ₹ 1,02,770 under 239% DA. According to the new rate of 246%, now his DA will increase to ₹ 1,05,780. That is, the salary will increase directly by Rs 3,000 per month.
New rates of DA under 5th Pay Commission
According to the 5th Pay Commission, the dearness allowance of the employees getting salary has been increased from the current 443% to 455%. This will also be applicable from July 1, 2024. That is, DA has been increased directly by 12 percent.
DA rates under 7th Pay Commission
Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for central employees and pensioners receiving salary under the 7th Pay Commission has been increased from 50% to 53%. This increase has come into effect from July 1, 2024.
Benefit of Dearness Allowance
Dearness allowance is given to government employees and pensioners to give relief from the brunt of inflation. It is decided according to the employees working in urban, semi-urban and rural areas. The central government revises the rates of dearness allowance twice every year—in January and July. Through this revision, the employees receiving salary under the 5th and 6th Pay Commission will get the benefit of increase in DA.
