7th pay commission: Central employees are waiting for the increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). Meanwhile, the West Bengal government has announced a 4% increase in dearness allowance for state government employees. With this, now the allowance of state government employees has increased by 10% to 14%.

Increase for the second time after January

Let us tell you that Mamata Banerjee’s government had earlier announced a 4 percent DA increase from the month of January. After this this new announcement has been made. This increase in allowance will be effective from the month of May. This new announcement has been made during the state budget session.

Announcement made in the budget

Let us tell you that West Bengal Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya, while presenting the budget for the financial year 2024-25 on Thursday, announced several policies for social welfare and employment. He presented a budget of Rs 3,66,166 crore for the financial year 2024-25. In this, it has been proposed to increase the monthly financial assistance for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities under Laxmi Bhandar Scheme to Rs 1,200. The financial assistance for other categories under this scheme has been increased to Rs 1,000. The Finance Minister of West Bengal said, “The Center has imposed a financial blockade of West Bengal. But we will not bow down. The state owes approximately Rs 1.18 lakh crore to the central government.

Not mandatory, optional

Let us tell you that last year Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said that DA is not mandatory for us, but optional. We are making this increase keeping in mind the well-being of the employees. However, with the latest decision of the state government, DA of all 14 lakh employees, teaching and non-teaching staff of all schools, colleges and universities, employees of all government undertakings and pensioners will be increased by 4 percent.

Waiting for central employees

Central employees are expected to get good news on DA by the month of March. According to media reports, dearness allowance may increase by 4 percent for the first half of the year. If this happens then the allowance of central employees will increase from 46 percent to 50 percent.
