7th Pay Commission DA Hike 2025: The new year 2025 can bring great news for central employees. Central employees and pensioners are eagerly waiting for the increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). Under the 7th Pay Commission, DA is calculated on the basis of AICPI (All India Consumer Price Index). This time the AICPI index data from July to December 2024 will decide it. Based on the data released till October 2024, it is certain that there is a possibility of a 3% increase in DA in January 2025. The data for November and December is awaited. Even after this the final number will be decided. If this figure remains around 145 in November and December 2024, then DA will increase to 56% in January 2025.
How much will the central employees benefit?
AICPI (All India Consumer Price Index) is the main basis for DA increase of central employees. According to the data of October 2024, the index has reached 144.5 points. By combining the data of previous months, it is clear that the government can increase DA from 53% to 56% in the new year. A 3% increase in dearness allowance will increase the salary of central employees substantially every month. If there is a 3% increase in DA, then a big change will be seen in the salary of the employees.
What does the 7th Pay Commission say?
Under the 7th Pay Commission, DA is revised twice a year (January and July). This revision is based on the average of the AICPI index. This time, for the DA revision of January 2025, AICPI data from July to December 2024 will be taken into account.
AICPI Index: What does the previous trend say?
In September 2024, the AICPI figure was at 143.7. In October 2024, it reached 144.5, due to which the DA score reached close to 55.05%. In November 2024, if there is a direct increase of 1 point in it, then it will reach 145.5 and in this case DA will reach 55.63%. At the same time, if there is an increase of 0.50 points in the index in December, then it will be 146 points. In this situation, the dearness allowance will be 56.29 percent. However, all this will depend on the formal data to be released in December.
Eye on Budget 2025 too
Central employees will also keep an eye on the budget. Apart from the DA hike in January, there may be new announcements for central employees in the budget to be presented on February 1, 2025.
When will the government make the announcement?
The formal announcement of the increase in dearness allowance (DA) of central employees is usually made in March. The government can release it before Holi. However, until the final figures are out, it is difficult to say when the announcement will be made. After the announcement in March, the employees can be given it by adding it to the salary of April 2025. Pensioners also get the benefit of this.
