After the Center increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for its 7th pay commission employees in the month of July this year, they have another good news for the beneficiaries.
Those who could not claim the Children Education Allowance (CEA) due to the corona pandemic. Employees can now claim it. Employees can do this without presenting official documents.
For those who do not know, according to the 7th pay commission, central employees get an allowance of Rs 2,250 per month every month for their children for their education. But since the corona virus hit the country last year, schools were closed and employees could not claim their CEA.
An office memorandum was issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) in July, stating that central employees were facing difficulties in claiming CEA even after depositing fees online.
According to DoPT, parents could claim through self-declaration or print out of result/report card/SMS/e-mail of fee payment, but since the schools were closed, the result and report card from the school was sent via SMS/ were not sent through e-mail.
What do central employees get as CEA?
Central employees get Rs 2250 per month per child as CEA for education of two children, i.e. Rs 4500 per month for two children. According to two academic calendars, a child has to pay Rs 4500. If an employee has not yet claimed for March 2020 and March 2021, then the claim can be made.

Documents required to claim CEA?
Central employees have to submit school certificates and claim documents. In the declaration received from the school, it is written that the child studies in their institution. Along with this, the academic calendar in which you have studied is also mentioned. To claim CEA, the child’s report card, self-attested copy and fee receipt are also required to be attached. Parents can now submit their admission slip to claim CEA.
