For the financial year 2020-21, the Union Cabinet has authorized Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) of 78 days’ salary for all eligible non-gazetted railway personnel. The decision is expected to benefit about 11.56 lakh non-gazetted railway employees and all non-gazetted railway employees except members of Railway Protection Force (RPF), Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF). The Ministry of Railways has also clarified that “for the purpose of computing Productivity Linked Bonus, wages shall include ‘Basic Pay’ as defined in the Railway Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 2016 and Dearness Allowance received during the financial year 2020-21″. . They can contribute to their respective State Railway Provident Fund accounts accordingly.
The Ministry has also specified that the payment of Productivity Linked Bonus to all eligible non-gazetted Railway employees for the financial year 2020-21 will be made on priority basis as is the salary settlement before Puja/Dussehra holidays. Ministry of Railways has further stated that “The above decision for payment of PLB has been taken notwithstanding the adverse financial position due to Corona challenges. In some railways, the PLB is being paid uniformly for all zonal railways, despite deficiencies related to operating ratio, earnings, loading etc.
