7th Pay Commission: The Telangana government has increased the dearness allowance of employees and pensioners by 2.73 per cent. This decision of the state government will benefit more than 7.2 lakh government employees and pensioners of Telangana. According to the Telangana government, the arrears of dearness allowance will be paid to those employees who are going to retire on May 31, 2023.
7th Pay Commission: The Telangana government has increased the dearness allowance of employees and pensioners by 2.73 per cent. This decision of the state government will benefit more than 7.2 lakh government employees and pensioners of Telangana. The state government has revised its existing Dearness Allowance – DA and DR (Dearness Relief – DR) from 17.29 percent to 20.02 percent. These new rates will be considered applicable from 1 July 2021. The dearness allowance of the employees from 1 July 2021 to 31 December 2022 will be transferred to the General Provident Fund (GPF) account.
Employees will benefit
According to the Telangana government, the arrears of dearness allowance will be paid to those employees who are going to retire on May 31, 2023. In addition, they are allowed to contribute to the General Provident Fund during the last four months of their service. Meanwhile, for pensioners, their arrears will be paid along with their January 2023 pension.
Arrears will be available in 8 installments
The State Government will pay the Dearness Relief (DR) arrears from July 1, 2021 to December 31, 2022 in eight installments. The process for the same will start in February 2023 and which will be given in March 2023. According to Finance Minister T Harish Rao, the Telangana government’s move to increase DA will help 2.88 lakh retirees and 4.40 lakh public servants. Employees claim that DA of July 2021 has been issued and DA of January 2022, July 2022 and January 2023 is still pending.
Tamil Nadu government also increased DA
Earlier, the Tamil Nadu government had increased the dearness allowance by 4 per cent. Now the DA received by the employees has been increased from 34 per cent to 38 per cent. The decision of the Tamil Nadu government will see a hike in the salaries of over 16 lakh state employees.
