7th Pay Commission: Before Diwali, Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has given gifts to its 95,000 employees. DA has been increased to 17 percent. Earlier DA was available at 12 per cent.

7th Pay Commission Latest Update Today: Before Diwali, government employees are getting bat and bat every day. On one hand, while announcing big gifts for their employees of the central government, their DA has been increased to 31 percent, while the state governments are also announcing gifts for their employees.

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) on Tuesday announced a mega Diwali Bonanza for its employees and announced a hike in Dearness Allowance (DA). The government has increased the dearness allowance from the current 12 percent to 17 percent. As per reports, around 95,000 employees will benefit from the DA hike from MSRTC.

MSRTC said that the October salary of the employees will be paid before the Diwali festival on November 1 instead of the scheduled 7th day of each month. Apart from this, MSRTC has also announced a “Diwali Gift” (bonus) of Rs 2,500 and Rs 5,000 to its employees and officers respectively.

This move of MSRTC comes a week after the Union Cabinet approved an increase of 3 percentage points from 28% on DA and Dearness Relief (DR) for central government employees and pensioners.

With this, the DA of central government employees will increase to 31 percent. Earlier in the day, the Finance Ministry issued a notification saying that the hike will come into effect from July 1, 2021.

Interestingly, the new hike in DA comes a few days before Diwali and is aimed at benefitting over 47 lakh employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners.

Apart from the hike in DA and the announcement of Diwali bonus, MSRTC has also hiked fares for all its services, except for night express buses, with a minimum hike of Rs 5 in ticket prices.
