Now the central employees are hoping that they will get dearness allowance withheld for 18 months before Diwali. However, now this hope seems to be fulfilled. Actually, for 18 months now the matter of pending arrears has reached PM Narendra Modi. According to media reports, PM Modi can find a solution to this as soon as possible. They can get 18 months withheld dearness allowance till Diwali.
Pensioners wrote a letter to PM Modi
The Indian Pensioners’ Forum (BMS) has appealed to PM Modi to clear the arrears of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) of central employees and pensioners. Manch has written a letter to PM Modi asking him to help in this matter. In May 2020, the Finance Ministry had stopped the DA hike till 30 June 2021 due to the Kovid-19 pandemic. It has been asked to restore it again from 1 July 2021.
Arrears stuck for one and a half year
The Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance of the Office Memorandum said that the DA payable to central government employees will be increased from the existing 17 per cent to 28 per cent of the basic pay. In April last year, the Finance Ministry had put on hold the increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) till June 30, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. From 1 January 2020 to 30 June 2021, the DA rate was 17 per cent.
The government said this about DA arrears
National Council of JCM secretary (staff side) Shiv Gopal Mishra said that one and a half year arrears have not been given yet. Talks are going on with the government regarding this. He said that in view of the demand of the employees, it is expected that the government will give arrears. Such a middle ground will be found so that the government and central employees can be helped.
DA increased for the second time in a year
The central government had increased the DA rate from 17 per cent to 28 per cent in July this year. Now with an increase of 3 percent, the DA rate has been increased to 31 percent. The government has increased DA for the second time.
