7th Pay Commission: The government has increased the DA of lakhs of employees to 28 percent. Along with this, the Housing Allowance (HRA) has also been increased.
New Delhi: After increasing the dearness allowance, dearness relief and housing allowance, the Center will make another visit to the central government employees this week. Meanwhile, during the Corona crisis, the government did not give dearness allowance to its employees for one and a half years.

The government has reduced the DA of lakhs of employees to 28 percent. Along with this, the Housing Allowance (HRA) has also been increased.
While issuing the order, the Central Government said that the housing allowance and DA should be increased on the basis of the basic salary of government employees. According to the rules, HRA will have to be increased if the DA is more than 25 percent. Therefore, the central government has decided to increase the HRA to 27 percent.
In an order issued by the Department of Expenditure on July 7, 2017, it has been said that when DA is above 25 per cent, then HRA will also be revised. In such a situation, DA has increased to 28 percent from July 1, 2021, after which it is also necessary to increase HRA.
How much HRA will one get?
Central employees are being given 27 percent, 18 percent and 9 percent HRA depending on the category of the city. This rate hike has been made applicable with DS as well with effect from 1st July 2021. HRA is classified by X, Y and Z category of cities.
This means that the Central employees of Class X will now get an HRA of more than Rs 5,400 per month. After this, Y category employees will get Rs 3600 per month and Z category employees will get Rs 1800 per month plus rent allowance.

According to the 7th Pay Commission, the minimum basic pay of central government employees is Rs 18,000. At present the basic salary of private sector employees starts from Rs 15,000. Central government employees were getting dearness allowance of Rs 3,060 at the rate of 17 per cent on the basic pay of Rs 18,000 till June 2021.
