New Delhi. The Central Government had increased the DA (Dearness Allowance) of central employees last month. The government has increased the DA by 4 percent to 38 percent. This move of the government has benefited 50 lakh central employees and 62 lakh pensioners. The increased amount of DA will be valid from July this year.

Although the employees have got the gift of increase in DA, but one hope of the employees has not been fulfilled yet. Employees are still waiting for 18 months DA arrears. Earlier it was expected that along with the announcement of increase in DA, the government would also announce the dates for depositing DA arrears in the account of employees, but it did not happen. Central employees were not given DA during the Corona period. At the same time, DA for 18 months is due.

When will you get the arrears?

According to a news of Moneycontrol, an announcement can be made soon regarding the DA arrears of 18 months of government employees. According to media reports, the government can take a decision on DA arrears after Diwali. However, no official announcement has been made by the government. The government did not increase the DA of employees from January 2020 to June 2021. DA was not given during that time. Now the effect of corona in the country has reduced considerably. Now after increasing the government’s DA by 4 percent, once again the hope of getting the stalled DA has been raised.

Memorandum issued

The Office Memorandum for the revised rates of Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees has been issued by the Department of Expenditure (DOE) of the Ministry of Finance on 3 October 2022. The rate of Dearness Allowance payable to Central Government employees has been increased from 34% to 38% of basic pay with effect from July 1, 2022.

Dearness allowance is calculated on the basis of basic pay. After increasing the DA by 4 percent, this time the salary will also increase. Suppose the basic salary of an employee is Rs 40,000, then after increasing DA by 4 per cent, his salary will increase by Rs 1,600 every month. In this way, the total increment in the year will be Rs 19,200.
