7th Pay Commission: Gratuity and cash payment announced, DA will be available at this rate

7th Pay Commission Latest Update: During this period, the rate of dearness allowance will remain 17 percent of the basic salary.


Let us inform that the dearness allowance has been increased to 28 percent by adding additional installments of 4 percent DA increased on 1 January 2020, 3 percent DA increased on 1 July 2020 and 4 percent DA increased on 1 January 2020.

7th Pay Commission Update: There is good news for retired central employees. The Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance has issued cash payment and gratuity to retired central employees. Gratuity information for January 2020 to June 2021 has been released. The ministry has given information about this by issuing a memorandum. In this memorandum, information has been given about the release of dearness allowance from 1 January 2020 to 30 June 2021.

Information about gratuity, leave encashment

This information has been given through a tweet in which it has been said that the Department of Expenditure has issued an Office of Memorandum on 7 September 2021 regarding gratuity and leave encashment for central employees. These are the employees who have retired during the period from January 2020 to June 2021.

How much will you get dearness allowance

It has been told that during this period the rate of dearness allowance will remain 17 percent of the basic salary. Let us inform that the dearness allowance has been increased to 28 percent by adding additional installments of 4 percent DA increased on 1 January 2020, 3 percent DA increased on 1 July 2020 and 4 percent DA increased on 1 January 2020.

As per the extant provisions contained in the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1972, DA on the date of retirement or death is counted as emoluments on the basis of computation of gratuity. In the memorandum issued by the Ministry of Finance, it has also been said that from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021, gratuity and cash payment in lieu of leave for retired central employees and already retired employees will be one time retirement benefits.

This is the rate of dearness allowance

  • 1st January 2020 to 30th June 2020 – 21% of Basic Salary
  • 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2020 – 24% of basic salary
  • 1 January 2021 to 30 May 2021 – 28% of the basic salary

All other conditions laid down in the CCS Pension Rules, 1972 and orders of the Department of Pension and PW will be applicable while computing gratuity and cash payment in lieu of leave.
