7th Pay Commission: After increasing the Dearness Allowance of central employees, other allowances along with the salary have also increased. At present, DA is being paid to central employees at the rate of 28 percent. In such a situation, there has also been an increase in the House Rent Allowance. The HRA itself is revised after the dearness allowance is increased by 25%.

According to the category of cities, 27 percent, 18 percent and 9 percent HRA is being given to central employees. This increase has also come into effect from 1 July 2021 along with DA. Let us tell you that the employees falling in the X category will now get Rs 5400 more HRA per month. After this, the employees of Y class will get Rs 3600 per month and then those of Z class will get more HRA by Rs 1800 per month.
Therefore, if we understand the revised HRA through an example, then according to the 7th Pay Matrix, the maximum basic salary of central employees is Rs 56000 per month, then according to 27 percent, his HRA will be Rs 15120. Let us tell you that when the 7th Pay Commission was implemented, then X, Y and Z category of HRA was created. It was said then that when the DA exceeds 25 per cent, then the HRA itself will be revised.
Cities with a population of more than 50 lakhs fall in the X category, they will get 27 percent HRA. At the same time, HRA will be available at 18 percent in Y category cities and 9 percent in Z category.
