According to the 7th Pay Commission, the revision of dearness allowance done twice every year is completely according to the half-yearly CPI-IW index. The figures of AICPI-IW that will come out from January 2023 to June 2023 will decide the direction of the next increase in DA of central employees.

The government has given a gift of four percent DA Hike to the central employees only last month. Now once again there can be an increase in the dearness allowance of the employees. However, this decision is taken at an interval of 6 months. That is, there is still time in this, but it is expected that according to the CPI-IW index, the next increase in DA can be up to three percent. After this, the dearness allowance of the employees may increase from 42 per cent to 45 per cent.

Dearness allowance increases twice a year

The central government has increased the dearness allowance of central employees from 38 percent to 42 percent in March 2023 itself. Along with this, it has been implemented from January 2023. Now the next hike will be announced in July 2023. Let us tell you that dearness allowance is an important part of the salary of government employees and pensioners. Its purpose is to reduce the effect of inflation. According to the Seventh Pay Commission, the Central Government revises DA twice every year in January and July. In such a situation, after the implementation of the increased DA from January 2023, the eyes are on the next DA Hike.

However, in view of the delay in the past, the government normally gives its approval in September or October. But this time it is expected that the center can take a decision on DA Hike soon. It is expected to be announced in August itself.

The increase is decided on the basis

According to the 7th Pay Commission, the revision of dearness allowance done twice every year is completely according to the half-yearly CPI-IW index. The figures of AICPI-IW that will come out from January 2023 to June 2023 will decide the direction of the next increase in DA of central employees. Talking about the present, in February 2023, the index figure was reduced from 132.8 to 132.7. Now its new data i.e. March 2023 data will be revealed on 28 April. According to reports, an increase can be seen in this. After adding the figures of April-May and June after March, the DA Hike to be held in July will be estimated.

3-4% DA hike can be a gift

According to the expectation being expressed by quoting experts in the reports, the next increase in DA/DR can be done by 3 to 4 percent. If the estimated increase is made by the government, then the dearness allowance of central employees will increase to 45-46 percent. About 47.58 lakh central government employees and 69.76 lakh pensioners will benefit from this decision and a bumper increase in their salary can be seen.

DA is a part of the salary structure

DA is part of the salary structure of government employees. In view of the inflation rate, the central government increases the DA of the employees. Higher the inflation, higher is the increase in DA. The Labor Bureau calculates dearness allowance and dearness relief for employees and pensioners.

Preparation to introduce new formula for DA calculation

However, speculations are still being made about the next DA Hike. Its exact indication will be available after the AICPI-IW figures are revealed on 28 April. After the recent hike in DA/DR of central employees and pensioners, the government is now preparing to introduce a new formula for DA calculation. If reports are to be believed, there may be a change in the existing formula for DA calculation in July this year.
