7th Pay Commission: Important update for government employees, Do not do this work at all regarding Children Education Allowance

7th Pay Commission: DA of central employees will increase by 50%, Government will announce before Holi

DA Hike: DA hike is expected by government employees. At the same time, it is expected that DA hike for employees and Dearness Relief (DR) hike for pensioners can be announced. The government can increase the existing DA rate.


7th Pay Commission Latest News: Central Government employees should submit their reimbursement claims for Children Education Allowance and Hostel Subsidy to their own departments instead of sending them directly to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). Some Central Government employees are submitting their reimbursement claims for CEA directly to DoPT. The Department of Personnel has asked all employees to submit such claims to the office/department in which they are serving or where they last served in case the employee is dead.

Seventh pay commission

The DoPT, in a memorandum dated August 25, 2023, said, “It has been observed that some Government servants are submitting their claims of Children Education Allowance to their respective offices/departments instead of submitting them to this Department for reimbursement. In each case In the unfortunate event of the demise of the Government servant, the claim for Children Education Allowance and Hostel Subsidy shall be submitted to the office/department where the employee is serving or last served.”

Child education allowance

DoPT further stated that in Ministries/Departments where e-HRMS is operational, the Government servants shall claim CEA only through e-HRMS. It also requested the Ministries/Departments where e-HRMS is not yet operational, to implement e-HRMS at the earliest. Earlier this month, the DoPT notified new childcare leave rules for eligible members of the All India Services (AIS).

Dearness allowance

As per the revised rules, eligible AIS members can avail paid leave for the care of their two eldest children for a total period of up to 2 years in their entire service. Meanwhile, the central government employees are waiting for the announcement of the revised dearness allowance (DA) rate to be effective from 1 July 2023.
