Which government employees will get the benefit of OPS

This decision of the government will benefit those employees who have been appointed after December 31, 2003. These employees will be given the option to choose the old pension system, that is, they can choose the option of old pension. Let us inform that the central employees had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court.

The court said that the advertisement for the job was issued in 2003 and the selection process ended in February 2004. Therefore, the court does not agree with the decision to implement the new pension scheme on the employees. This delay has come from the side of the government. When the advertisement was taken out in 2003, they should have got the benefit of that time.

The government decided to fully implement

The High Court ordered to give the benefit of the old pension scheme to the employees under the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1972. Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh says that the Ministry of Finance had started NPS for the Central Government employees on the notification of 22 December 2003.

NPS is mandatory for all new appointments (except armed forces) to the Central Government service from January 1, 2004. However, after the court’s decision, the government decided to implement it completely. With this, now the option of old pension can be given again to the employees declared successful for recruitment in the results declared on 31 December 2003 for vacancies before 1 January 2004.
