7th Pay Commission: Central employees have recently received the gift of 3% dearness allowance. Dearness Allowance (DA Hike) has increased by 3 percent with the salary of March. But, still many demands remain unfulfilled. One of these is the fitment factor.
7th Pay Commission: Recently, the Central employees got the gift of 3% Dearness allowance. But, after this good news is not coming for them. The ever-increasing inflation can become a hindrance in their next DA Hike. However, 4 months inflation data (AICPI Index) is yet to come. Only then the picture will be clear. But, in the meantime, an update has come regarding the fitment factor of government employees. It was expected that the government may increase the fitment factor slightly this year. This will increase the basic salary of the employees. But, no decision will be taken yet on the demand for increasing the fitment factor.
Fitment Factor will not increase in 2022!
According to sources, the fitment factor will not increase in the year 2022. At present, the government is not in favor of increasing the fitment factor. Due to Kovid-19 and inflation, this additional financial burden cannot be increased at present. If sources are to be believed, it is not possible to take any decision on the fitment factor till the next Pay Commission. It is also difficult to say when the next pay commission will come. The government is trying to make such a formula, which will increase the salary from time to time.
Why is there a demand to increase the Fitment Factor?
The fitment factor is considered very important for central employees. On the basis of this, it is decided that how much will be increased in the basic salary of the employees. According to the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, in addition to the allowances in the salary of central employees, the basic salary is increased by the fitment factor. Last time, due to increase in fitment factor, there was an increase of more than two and a half times in the salary of central employees. But, there was a demand of the employees that the fitment factor should be increased further. This can lead to a good increase in their basic salary. The government has no mood on this at the moment.
What is Fitment Factor?
As per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, at present the fitment factor is 2.57. The basic salary of central employees is calculated by multiplying the fitment factor 2.57 of the 7th Pay Commission (7th Pay Commission latest update). After the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, the basic pay was made by adding grade-pay to the Pay Band of the 6th Pay Commission. In this, the current entry level salary was multiplied by the fitment factor 2.57, which prepared the salary according to the pay band of the employees.
As an example
- 6th CPC Pay Band: PB 1
- Grade Pay: Rs 1800
- Current Entry Pay: Rs 7000
- Entry Pay: 7000 x 2.57 = Rs 18,000 on consideration of fitment factor under 7th Pay Commission.
What happens if the fitment factor is 3?
- 6th CPC Pay Band: PB 1
- Grade Pay: Rs 1800
- Current Entry Pay: Rs 7000
- Entry Pay: 7000 x 3 = Rs 21,000 on consideration of fitment factor under 7th Pay Commission.
By how much will the fitment factor increase?
Central employees are getting 2.57 fitment factor in the current system. Based on this, the minimum salary (Fitment factor Basic Salary) is Rs 18000. If it is increased to 3 then the basic salary will be Rs 21000. At the same time, if it can be increased to 3.68, then the salary will be Rs 25,760. There is a demand of the employees that their fitment factor should be increased to 3.68. The minimum salary should be kept at Rs 26000.
Note: Let us tell you, the salary may vary on changing the Pay Band in the fitment factor as well. Above is the basic calculation done for example only.
