7th Pay Commission DA Hike Update: Only a few days are left for the month of September to end. The wait for Central Government Employees has become quite long but now this wait may end on Wednesday. The cabinet meeting to be held on September 27 can approve increase in DA. In such a situation, festivals will bring a hike in the salaries of central employees. The central government may soon announce an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners.

DA increases twice a year

To fight inflation, the central government increases dearness allowance from time to time. Whenever the government announces increase in DA, it is revised twice a year in January and July. Whenever revision is announced, the arrears of the previous month are given. For example, if the government announces increase in DA at the end of September, then it will be considered effective from July. Then the arrears of July and August will also be included in the September salary.

How much increase in DA is expected?

How much will the salary increase?

At present, dearness allowance and relief are being paid to central employees and pensioners at the rate of 42 percent. If the government increases DA by 4 percent then dearness allowance will increase to 46 percent. The increase in dearness allowance will be applicable from July 1, 2023.

How much will the salary increase?

DA is calculated on the basic salary of central government employees. This will provide relief from inflation for central government pensioners. As DA increases, the salary of central government employees increases. Suppose if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 36,500 per month. In such a situation, he will get Rs 15,330 along with 42 percent dearness allowance. But after 4 percent increase, DA will be Rs 16,790 every month. In such a situation, the total income of the central employee will increase by Rs 16,425-15,330 = Rs 1,460 every month.

Arrears will be available along with

DA will come into effect from July 1, 2023 as soon as the announcement is made by the Central Government. If dearness allowance is announced in October, then the employees will have to pay arrears along with the salary. In this , DA arrears of July, August and September will be available. For pensioners also, dearness relief is increased equal to dearness allowance.
