According to media reports, the Modi government is expected to give a salary hike gift to the employees this month. After the dearness allowance, now the government can soon decide to increase the house rent allowance and other allowances.

HRA expected to increase

After increasing DA, the expectation of increase in HRA has also increased. Earlier, the HRA was increased in July last year. Then the DA was also increased from 25 per cent to 28 per cent. Now that DA has been increased to 34 per cent, HRA can also be amended.

how much is expected to grow

HRA for government employees is determined by the category of the city where they work. There are three categories for cities X, Y and Z. It has been said in media reports that the HRA of government employees living or working in X category cities is likely to increase by 3 percent similar to DA. At present, the employees of these cities get HRA of 27 per cent of the basic salary.

For Y category cities, this increase is possible by 2 percent. Employees working in these areas get 18-20 per cent HRA. For Z category cities, 1 percent HRA can be increased. For now, HRA is given at the rate of 9-10 percent.
