7th Pay Commission: Uttar Pradesh government has announced to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) of state employees by 3 percent. Following the footsteps of the central government, the Uttar Pradesh government has now announced to increase the DA from the existing 28 percent to 31 percent. This decision has been taken a few months before the 2022 assembly elections of Uttar Pradesh. In addition, the Yogi Adityanath-led government has retroactively implemented the DA hike from July 2021 . The arrears of the previous months will be transferred to the Employees’ Provident Fund Account.
The state government had last increased the DA of its employees on 28 July 2021. At that time DA was increased to 28 percent. Since then, the employees of the UP government are getting allowance at an increased rate.
The revision of DA came after a long time as the DA hike was put on hold due to Kovid-19 in 2020, at that time it was 17 percent.
An official reportedly said that the DA is increased twice a year, on January 1 and July 1, but in April 2020, the Center and then the state announced that the DA would be increased till July 1, 2021, to help the government financially. There will be no amendment.
According to an IANS report, state government sources said that for those who are members of the National Pension Scheme, some amount of the revised DA will be deposited in the NPS accounts.
Apart from this, the employees who retired before the announcement of the latest DA hike will get the benefit in cash from the state government.
Know- how much will the salary increase?
- If the basic salary of an employee is Rs 15,000, then he should get Rs 4200 as dearness allowance at the rate of 28 per cent. But at the rate of 31 percent, the same employee will now get Rs 4650 as DA.
