It is worth noting that earlier on Diwali, the Modi government had increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of the employees by 3 percent. Now there is a discussion that the central government can once again please the employees. The government is considering increasing the House Rent Allowance (HRA) along with DA.

34% DA hike fixed

After a long wait of central government employees and pensioners, 3% increase in dearness allowance has been fixed. That is, now employees and pensioners will get Dearness Allowance (DA Hike) at the rate of 34%. There has been a decrease of one point in the December 2021 index of the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AICPI Index). Let us tell you that the average of 12 months index for dearness allowance is 351.33 with an average of 34.04% (Dearness allowance). But, dearness allowance is always given in whole numbers. That is, from January 2022, the total dearness allowance is set to be 34%.

Proposal sent

The Finance Ministry has started brainstorming to implement the House Rent Allowance (HRA) of more than 11.56 lakh employees. A proposal has also been sent to the Railway Board for approval of this proposal. If this proposal is approved, then the employees will get HRA. Let us tell you that the Indian Railway Technical Supervisors Association and the National Federation of Railwaymen are demanding to implement HRA from January 1, 2021. After increasing the house rent allowance, there will be a bumper increase in the salary.

How much will be the ‘House Rent Allowance’

Let us tell you that the cities whose population is more than 50 lakhs come under the ‘X’ category. At the same time, those whose population is more than 5 lakhs come in the ‘Y’ category. And cities with a population of less than 5 lakhs come under the ‘Z’ category. The minimum HRA for all three categories will be Rs 5400, 3600 and Rs 1800. According to the Department of Expenditure, when the Dearness Allowance reaches 50 percent, the maximum House Rent Allowance will increase to 30 percent. But this is possible only when DA will be beyond 50 percent. Because according to the old order of the government, if the DA crosses 50 percent, then the HRA will be 30 percent, 20 percent and 10 percent.
