7th Pay Commission Updates: Government employees of the central government can get the gift of increase in salary before Holi. Central employees were waiting for a long time to increase Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) and Housing Rental Allowance (HRA).
The government has not said anything officially about this till now, but according to various media reports, this can be announced before Holi. After the announcement of All India Consumer Price Index, the possibility of increase in DA has become stronger.

It has been claimed in various media reports that the government can increase the dearness allowance (DA) of central employees by up to three percent. The government will announce an increase in DA on the recommendation of the Seventh Pay Commission (7th Pay Commission).

Central government employees are currently getting DA equal to 31% of the basic pay. Earlier in October 2021, the government had announced to increase the DA from 28 per cent to 31 per cent. This increase became effective from July 1, 2021. If the central government decides to increase the dearness allowance by three percent before Holi, then the central employees will get dearness allowance equal to 34 percent of the basic pay. About 48 lakh central employees and 69 lakh pensioners will benefit from this decision.

Dearness allowance is calculated on the basis of basic salary. The central government usually revises the benefits related to DA and DR in January and July. There is a difference in the DA of the employees according to the cities.

The central government can also make an important announcement to increase HRA. At present, the employees of A, B and C tier cities are being given HRA at the rate of 24 per cent, 16 per cent and 8 per cent respectively.
