8th pay commission: The government has approved the 8th Pay Commission. Which will be implemented from the year 2026, in which many changes have been suggested. One of those changes can also be regarding the pay scale. Let us understand that if the government changes the pay scale, then who will benefit the most.

8th pay commission: The government has approved the 8th Pay Commission. Which will be implemented from January 2026. Because the current i.e. 7th Pay Commission is ending on 31 December 2025. However, the government has not yet given any statement regarding which recommendations will be implemented in the 8th Pay Commission, how much fitment factor will be applicable. The employee organization is recommending the implementation of 2.86 fitment. If this happens, then along with the salary of the employees, their pension will also increase. Meanwhile, there are reports that JCM has given suggestions to change the pay scale of central employees. Let us understand who will benefit if this happens.

To further the demands of the employees and improve their financial condition, NC-JCM Staff Side has presented some suggestions to the government, the first of which is to implement the fitment factor 2.86 and the second is the merger of pay scales. NC-JCM Staff Side Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra has recommended merging the pay scales of central employees from 1 to 6. Till now there are 18 pay scales.

At the same time, if we talk about the recommendation of the previous pay commission, the salary of the employees under Level 1 has increased to Rs 18,000 per month and the salary of Level 18 has increased to Rs 2,50,000 per month.

How can pay scales be merged

The most important suggestion among the suggestions given by the staff side is to merge the pay scales, according to which, the government can merge Level 1 with Level 2, Level 3 with Level 4 and Level 5 with Level 6.

Who will benefit

If the government merges the levels from level 1 to level 6, then the lower level employees will benefit more. Let us explain. For example, currently the basic salary of employees at level 1 is Rs 18,000 and the salary of central employees at level 2 is Rs 19,900. If these two are merged and the fitment factor of 2.86 is applied, then their salary will become Rs 51,480, which will benefit the level 1 employees. On the other hand, if level 3 and level 4 are merged, the salary will become Rs 72,930 and if level 5 and level 6 are merged, the basic salary will become Rs 1,01, 244 with 2.86 fitment.
