How much will the salary increase from 1 to 10 levels under the 8th Pay Commission

The Union Cabinet approved the 8th Pay Commission in early January and it is likely to be implemented next year. At present, the salary structure for central employees is under the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, which was implemented in 2016. According to many reports, there is a discussion that the fitment factor for the 8th Pay Commission will increase by 2.86. If this happens, then the basic salary in Level 1 will increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 51,480 and the same formula will be applicable at all levels. Level 1

Level 1 includes peons, attendants and assistant staff. Their basic pay of Rs 18,000 is expected to be revised to Rs 51,480, an increase of Rs 33,480.

Level 2

Level 2 includes lower division clerks who handle clerical work. Their basic pay of Rs 19,900 is likely to be increased to Rs 56,914 from Rs 37,014.

Level 3

Level 3 includes constables and skilled employees in police or public services who have a basic pay of Rs 21,700. This level includes constables and skilled employees in police or public services.

Level 4

Level 4 includes grade D stenographers and junior clerks. Their basic pay of Rs 25,500 is likely to be increased to Rs 72,930 from Rs 47,430.

Level 5

Level 5 basic pay of Rs 29,200 is likely to be revised to Rs 83,512, i.e. an increase of Rs 54,312. This level includes senior clerks and high level technology employees.

Level 6

Level 6 basic pay of Rs 35,400 is likely to be revised to Rs 65,844 or Rs 1,01,244. Inspector and sub-inspector posts fall in this category.

Level 7

Level 7 includes superintendents, section officers and assistant engineers, the basic pay of Rs 44,900 is expected to increase to Rs 1,28,414, i.e. an increase of Rs 83,514.

Level 8

Level 8 basic pay of Rs 47,600 is likely to increase to Rs 88,536 or Rs 1,36,136. Senior Section Officer and Assistant Audit Officer fall in this category.

Level 9

The basic pay of Rs 53,100 in Level 9 is expected to increase to Rs 1,51,866, i.e. an increase of Rs 98,766. This level includes the posts of Deputy Superintendent of Police and Audit Officer.

Level 10

Level 10 includes Group A officers like entry-level officers in civil services. The basic pay of Rs 56,100 is likely to increase to Rs 1,60,446, i.e. an increase of Rs 1,04,346.
