8th Pay Commission Salary Hike: Many people have this question in their mind that how much can the salary of those government employees who have joined in the recent years increase.

8th Pay Commission Salary Hike: The Government of India has recently announced the 8th Pay Commission, which is expected to be implemented from January 1, 2026. Under this commission, there is a possibility of significant increase in the salary of central government employees, which will improve their financial condition.

First understand how the salary increases?

The role of fitment factor will be important in the 8th Pay Commission. The fitment factor is a multiplier used to revise the basic salary of the employees. In the 7th Pay Commission, this factor was 2.57, but in the 8th Pay Commission it is likely to be kept between 2.28 to 2.86. If the fitment factor in the 8th Pay Commission is 2.86, then the current basic salary will increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 51,480.

How much will the salary of new employees increase?

Understand it like this that until the 8th Pay Commission is implemented, all the jobs under the Central Government, whatever joining happens in all, is done on the basis of the 7th Pay Commission. Now in such a situation, when the 8th Pay Commission is implemented, it will be equally applicable to all central government employees, whether their joining happened 1 year ago or 10 years ago.

Merger of Dearness Allowance (DA)

Another important change in the 8th Pay Commission will be that the current Dearness Allowance (DA) will be merged with the basic salary. This decision will further increase the salary of the employees, as the percentage of DA will be added to the basic salary. Currently, employees get 55 percent DA, which is a significant part of their basic salary. If it is merged with the basic salary, their total salary will increase further.
