After this, their DA increased to 55 percent.

Earlier, before Diwali, the government had approved an increase of 3 percent from 50 to 53 percent in October 2024. This step of the government will increase the salary of central employees and pension of pensioners.

DA increases twice a year

The government increases dearness allowance twice a year keeping in mind inflation and price index, so that it can be ensured that the earnings of employees and pensioners remain safe. The first increase in DA comes into effect from January 1. It is announced in March. Similarly, the second increase in it becomes effective from July 1, which is announced in the month of October.

When will the arrears money be received?

This recent increase in dearness allowance will be applicable from January 1, 2025. In such a situation, employees and pensioners will get arrears. In such a situation, some people have this question in their mind that when will the government give this arrears and how much arrears will they get. If this question is also arising in your mind, then today we are going to tell you about this. Let us tell you that the central government will give its lakhs of employees and pensioners the arrears of January, February and March months along with the salary of April.

How much arrears will be given?

Let us tell you that after the announcement of increase in DA, the salary of government employees whose minimum basic salary is Rs 18 thousand per month will increase by Rs 360 every month. In such a situation, they will get Rs 1080 as arrears for January, February and March. Similarly, the pension of pensioners with basic pension of Rs 9 thousand will increase by Rs 180 per month. Accordingly, they will get arrears of Rs 540 for three months.

Will DA be merged after the 8th Pay Commission?

It is worth mentioning that the Central Government had approved the 8th Pay Commission for central employees earlier this year. However, it has not been formed yet. A three-member committee is expected to be formed for this in April. Once the 8th Pay Commission is implemented, the dearness allowance of central employees will be merged with their basic salary and thus their DA will become zero.
