8th Pay Commission: One of the biggest questions for more than one crore central government employees and pensioners of the country at this time is when the 8th Pay Commission is going to be constituted. The Finance Ministry, while answering this on Tuesday i.e. 3 December 2024, has said that there is no plan to constitute the 8th Pay Commission in the near future. This answer can be a big blow to these more than 1 crore employees and pensioners who were waiting for the revision of their basic salary, increase in allowances, pension and other benefits after the formation of the 8th Pay Commission.

Know what is the answer of the Finance Ministry on the 8th Pay Commission

In response to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that at present no proposal is pending before the government for the establishment of the 8th Central Pay Commission. Rajya Sabha MPs Javed Ali Khan and Ramji Lal Suman asked whether the central government is thinking of announcing a new pay commission in the Union Budget 2025-26 to be presented on February 1, 2025?

In fact, the 7th Pay Commission had improved the salary structure, allowances and pension and also gave priority to pay parity, after which positive changes were seen on all central government employees and pensioners. After this, now the demand for the 8th Pay Commission is coming up and employees and pensioners have been waiting for its formation for a long time.

8th Pay Commission Update: When is the 8th Pay Commission set for?

Generally, the Central Pay Commission is constituted every 10 years to assess the salary, allowances and facilities of central government employees and to suggest changes in them. These guidelines are issued keeping in mind the inflation rate and other external factors. On 28 February 2014, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh constituted the 7th Pay Commission and it presented its results on 19 November 2015. The recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission came in January 2016 and in a period of 10 years, the 8th Pay Commission should be implemented on 1 January 2026.
