Aadhar Card is an essential document for every person living in India. Whether it is to open a bank account without Aadhaar or to get the child admitted in school, all such things are not possible. For this reason it is very important to have an Aadhar card and the information contained in it is correct, due to wrong information, you can get into trouble, as well as stop your important work.
It is very important to have the correct address related information in Aadhaar, so if you are among those who want to change your address entered in Aadhaar, then you should know that the process of updating address in Aadhaar card has now changed.
Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the issuing agency of Aadhaar, has made some new rules for this. UIDAI has stopped the facility for Aadhaar card holders to change address in Aadhaar without any proof of address. According to the information given by UIDAI, to change your address in Aadhaar, you have to follow this new process given in the next slide.
UIDAI has made 32 documents mandatory for change of address in Aadhar card. The complete list of these documents is as follows: Passport, Bank Statement / Passbook, Post Office Account Statement / Passbook, Ration Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License, Government Photo ID Cards / Service Photo ID Card issued by PSU, Electricity Bill, Water Bill, Telephone Landline Bill, Property Tax Receipt, Credit Card Statement, Insurance Policy, Signature Letter on Bank Letterhead, Signature Letter with Photograph on Registered Company Letterhead, MGNREGA Job Card, Arms License, Pensioner Card, Freedom Fighter Card , Kisan Passbook, CGHC/ ECHS Card, etc.
Online process to update address in Aadhaar: To change the address, first open the official website of UIDAI, ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup/. Now click on ‘Proceed to Update Aadhaar’. Here enter all the information related to your Aadhaar or say 12 digit UID number. Verify Aadhaar details with the help of captcha code. Now enter your registered mobile number. Verify your phone number with the OTP received on the mobile number. Now enter your Aadhar card details and enter new address. Upload any one of the 32 documents mentioned by UIDAI.
