How to lock Aadhar biometric data online
You can keep your Aadhar card secure by locking your biometric data on the UIDAI server. Wherever it can be unlocked whenever required. See below simple steps to lock your biometric data online:-
Step 1 – First of all go to the UIDAI website. Under My Aadhaar and Aadhaar Services, click on Aadhaar Lock and Unlock Service.
Step 2 – Select Lock UID to lock your biometric data.
Step 3 – Enter the 12 digit Aadhaar number.
Step 4 – Enter your Full Name and Pincode.
Step 5 – Now enter the security code.
Step 6 – Click on send OTP and enter.
Step 7- OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number through SMS.
Step 8 – On verification, a message will be received on the screen. In which it will be written that your Aadhaar number has been successfully locked.
Steps to Unlock Aadhaar Biometric Data Online
Step 1 – Visit the UIDAI website. Under My Aadhaar and Aadhaar Services, click on Aadhaar Lock and Unlock Service.
Step 2 – Enter Aadhar Number or Virtual ID Number.
Step 3 – Enter the captcha code for verification.
Step 4 – Click on OTT send.
Step 5 – Enter OTP and click on submit.
To lock and unlock the biometric data, you will need to create a Virtual ID. The Virtual ID can be obtained by visiting the UIDAI website. At the same time, you can also get it by sending SMS on 1947.
Lock Aadhar card by sending SMS
First of all, you have to send GETOTP from the registered number to 1947. After this an OTP will come on the mobile number. This OTP has to be sent to 1947 by typing LOCKUID Aadhaar number. After this the Aadhar card will be locked. At the same time, to unlock, the last 6 digits of the virtual ID will have to be written and sent to 1947.
